City Story is an urban space strategy that proposes to temporarily transform vacant and underutilized sites in New Haven's downtown core . The content of each installation is intended to be interactive, promoting discussion and increasing understanding of the site’s own unique story. Many of the sites are the result of failed or incomplete postwar urban renewal projects. The proposal depicted here is for a temporary “memory park” which combines oral history and uses pavement patterns to map both the pre-redevelopment streets and redevelopment era department store which once occupied this now vacant site.
