Mooreland Glen
Kensington, Connecticut, 2002
Mooreland Glen is an eco-modern development plan of 14 new custom homes that appreciates the surrounding natural terrain, rich historical legacy of the property, and the needs of contemporary living. The master plan responded to a need for ecologically-sensitive and forward-thinking lifestyles. The site is located on the historic grounds of the Moore family estate upon which two historic homes and a working horse farm exist. Sustainable planning strategies were implemented in collaboration with Balmori Associates, a New York-based landscape design firm, to preserve the natural characteristics of the site such as the rural nature of nearby High Road, natural vegetation, and wetlands along the Mattabesset River. In addition to the site plan, DSA designed three house prototypes.
