Pacific Heights House

Honolulu, Hawaii, 2007

Originally constructed in 1925 on one of Honolulu’s first hillside residential developments, the Pacific Heights House is a comprehensive renovation of a dilapidated historic structure and neglected site. DSA was the developer, architect and general contractor for this intricate restoration, challenging structural stabilization and landscaping project. The exterior of the house was redesigned and rebuilt closer to its 1920s appearance with a vibrant tropical landscape design – by removing vinyl siding and replacing it with wood clapboards, remaking trim details and restoring all of the existing wood windows – while inside, its historic millwork and finishes are restored along with a new kitchen, bathrooms and a separate living unit downstairs.
