Hull's Art Supply

Location: New Haven, Connecticut

Year: 1999

2000 AIA Connecticut Design Award

This interior and exterior renovation of a vacant downtown building for the relocation of a long-standing art supply store was DSA's first realized project in Connecticut. Working on a limited budget, DSA established an architectural vocabulary which deploys inexpensive materials and simple details – using plywood, pegboard, threaded rods, acrylic panels, site-built light fixtures and paint, which creates a clear identity for Hull's Art Supply’s new presence in the Yale University arts area. DSA’s office happily occupied the upper floor of this building from 1999-2006.
