News Feature: "Hawai'i Pacific University Unveils New Academic Sciences Building Designed by Dean Sakamoto Architects"



On September 20, 2024, Hawai’i Pacific University marked the official opening of its cutting-edge Science Laboratories building located at 1042 Fort Street Mall, located near major university centers such as Pioneer Plaza, Aloha Tower Marketplace, and Waterfront Plaza. This new facility expands HPU’s teaching and research laboratory space.


This significant achievement highlights the university’s dedication to advancing research and education in the sciences, further enhancing their urban campus. HPU takes great pride in providing an educational experience that combines academic rigor with practical opportunities, creating a nurturing environment for their students to excel.


This adaptive reuse project involved Dean Sakamoto Architects’ expertise in architecture, ensuring a modern educational environment while preserving the building's historic character. The building will house science classrooms, research labs and offices for faculty and staff.
