AIA Connecticut's 2025 Design Awards jury has bestowed an Award of Excellence in Historic Preservation/Adaptive Reuse to Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, Phase 4, Below Grade Segment. DSA is the designer and architect of record for this City of New Haven project in collaboration with the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation.
This transformative project completes New Haven's effort to reconnect to its waterfront and increase connectivity between Yale University and its Downtown. DSA's design exposes and interprets the site's rich 200-year history that was originally an inland waterway and later, a railroad line to its new dual use as park space and multimodal transportation passage.
Dean Sakamoto will be attending the 2025 AIA Connecticut Design Awards Gala on December 11, 2025.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the City of New Haven's Department of City Planning and our outstanding team which includes SLR (engineering, landscape architecture, construction management), Atelier Ten (lighting design), Silver Petrucelli (electrical engineering, and Pucci Construction, whose fine work made this recognition possible!
